10 reasons you’ll love studying at TEFL Iberia

Studying at TEFL Iberia

TEFL Iberia was started and is run by people who have all worked as English teachers and loved it – a passion for teaching is at the heart of what we do. We’re not a big multinational company – we’re an independent school whose mission is to give you the most comprehensive teacher training possible. We believe that great teachers play a crucial role in their students’ lives and our internationally recognised Trinity CertTESOL course will set you on the path to becoming the best teacher you can be. Working abroad is one of the most exciting experiences anyone can have, and we truly appreciate the opportunity to be part of your journey.

Being an amazing teacher starts with doing an amazing TEFL course! Here are our 10 top reasons you’ll love studying at TEFL Iberia:

1. The small groups

Our group sizes are kept intentionally small so you get a more personalised experience and don’t feel lost in the crowd. Specifically, our morning input sessions are strictly capped at 12 students per group and 6 students for afternoon lesson preparation and teaching practice.

2. We’re close to everything (and we’re in a beautiful neighbourhood)

The school is located right in the middle of Barcelona, with Gaudi masterpieces around the corner and the main shopping boulevard just one block away. You’ll really feel like you’re living and breathing Barcelona city as you come to the school every day. And there are plenty of cafes, bakeries and restaurants around the school to keep you topped up with cafe con leche!

3. Visa support

We have years of experience working with the visa authorities in various countries and keep up to date with the changes in immigration policy. We can guide you with every step of the student visa application and have a very high success rate with students from North American and Australia.

4. Charity donations and work

Barcelona is our home and we’re committed to playing a constructive part in our community here through charity work and donations with local groups. Part of your course fee will be going towards advocacy for immigrants, helping the homeless in Barcelona, and working to reduce gendered violence. We can also set you up with a voluntary role teaching English for a couple of hours a week with one of the charities we work with. You can read more about our charity work here.

5. Get a taste of traditional Catalan Modernista architecture

Our school is within a traditional Modernista building in L’Eixample. A few of the windows still have the original stained glass, and there are ceiling roses and elaborate cornicing in several classrooms. The feature that all our students comment on first is the tiled floors, however. With eight different designs through the building, our mosaic tile floors are a constant source of delight and the pride of our Instagram page!

6. Supportive environment

All the staff here have gone through exactly the same process you’re about to go through – moving to Barcelona, studying the TEFL course, finding a job, finding a flat, making friends in a new city, etc. This means that we’re the perfect choice to guide you through the exciting process of moving abroad. We’ve already been there, done that and made the mistakes so you won’t have to. Whether you need a hand with paperwork or finding an apartment, we’ll here for you every step of the way, even once you’ve graduated from the course.

7. Up to date technology

Our school is kitted out with the latest in teaching technology. If you’re a techhead you’ll love working with our integrated Mac system, interactive classrooms and touch screen whiteboards. But if you’re not confident in your computer skills, don’t worry! Smartboard training is part of the course and means you’ll graduate confident in your abilities to work in all sorts of environments.

8. The 10.30am start

Plenty of time to try a different bakery every day on your way to school!

9. Because we’re in Barcelona

Why wouldn’t you want to do your TEFL course in Barcelona?! Amazing food, world famous festivals and on top of that, you can even hit the beach at the weekends! Apart from everything this amazing city has to offer, you’ll open yourself to so many more opportunities by studying in the city you want to work in, as you’ll be right where all your future students are and get very useful, specific advice from us about working in Barcelona.

10. Free biscuits and apples every day!

Hey, we’ve all done the course and we know it’s hard work, so we’ve laid on all the tea and biscuits you can humanly consume while studying at the school. We also have free fruit and herbal tea on offer… but you need a little caffeine and sugar to help you study, right?
