Private class in Barcelona

If you teach private classes in Barcelona, you’ll understand the importance of finding the right space to hold your classes. It’s a good idea to explain to the staff that you’re teaching a class – they’ll appreciate the regular weekly custom and they usually let you advertise your services with a small poster or a flyer. We’ve even had bar staff approach us for lessons after doing classes at the cafe where they work!

So read on for a list of our favourite tried-and-tested cafes which are perfect for doing private classes.

La Clandestina

Open from 10am every morning, this cosy little cafe in El Gotico is tucked away down a side street. It’s nice and quiet, so you’ll get to teach your class with no distractions, and their smoothies are delicious!

Open 10am – 10pm
Carrer de Baixada de Viladecols, 2, 08002

Cafe Cosmo

We love this bright and airy cafe behind Universitat. It’s huge, so you’re pretty much guaranteed to get a table during the week, and they have a delicious selection of cakes and biscuits on sale at the counter.

Open 10am-10pm
Carrer d’Enric Granados, 3, 08007

Cafe Camelia

This little cafe in Gracia has really reliable wifi – great if you like using video or audio with your students. They also do vegan cakes for any vegan teachers out there!

Open 9.30am – 12am
Carrer de Verdi 79, 08012

Mama’s Cafe

Another Gracia spot, Mama’s Cafe has a fully organic kitchen and a lovely interior courtyard for sunny days. The carrot cake is also highly recommended!

Open 9am – 12am
Carrer de Torrijos 26, 08012

Le Pain Quotidien

This cafe on Diagonal was a bookshop in a previous incarnation, and still has books on the shelves amongst bottles of wine. It’s good for early classes as it’s open from 8.30pm, but best avoided from 2pm as it fills up with the lunchtime crowd.

Open 8.30am – 9pm
Avinguda Diagonal 564

Cafe Laie

This cafe is on the first floor of the Laie bookshop in L’Eixample. It’s very calm and quiet, and they stock a great selection of tea. A good place for summer classes as they have aircon.

Open 9am – 9pm
Carrer de Pau Claris, 85, 08010

Johnny Aldana

This vegetarian and vegan-friendly bar just off Avinguda Paral·lel is a great spot for private classes – quiet, central and with nice staff. It opens late so better for afternoon classes.

Open 12.30pm – 12.30am
Carrer d’Aldana 9, 08015

Federal Cafe

Situated in Sant Antoni, this cafe has three floors and opens at 8am through the week so good for early classes. Downstairs is usually quite busy but upstairs is most often quiet. There’s also a lush roof terrace for sunny days.

Open 8am – 12am
Carrer del Parlament, 39, 08015

El Colectivo

This small cafe is very centrally located, just a couple of blocks from Las Ramblas. The waiting staff are lovely and it’s nice and quiet.

Open 9am – 9pm
Carrer del Pintor Fortuny 22, 08001

Spice Cafe

Famous for its cakes, Spice Cafe in Poblesec is a great spot for a private class. The coffee is delicious and if you’re not careful you’ll end up spending all your class money on the red velvet spongecake!

Open 4pm – 9pm weekdays
Carrer de Margarit 13, 08004

  1. I did classes in El colectivo and i was told we weren’t allowed to do it as the owner/manager didn’t feel comfortable with it. So i really couldn’t suggest going there.
