Social responsibility

TEFL Iberia social responsibility

At TEFL Iberia we really care about making a positive contribution to the society around us – it’s part of our ethos as a small, independent company. When you sign up to do a TEFL course with us, part of your course fee goes towards helping others.

We work closely with the charity Catnova, a social inclusion charity and employment agency. We’re proud to be involved with this organisation, which helps immigrants with limited resources to integrate into the local employment market. Catnova provides people with access to CV workshops, IT training, and interview skills, and we’ve teamed up to send them recently qualified teachers to teach English at their centre for a few hours a week. It’s great for people who don’t have the resources to attend regular English classes, it’s a good way for jobseekers to build up their confidence and it gives newly qualified teachers classroom experience in a low pressure environment.

The second charity that part of your fee goes to is Arrels Fundació, a fantastic organisation which supports homeless people in Barcelona. They do outreach work, run soup kitchens, and support people to access health services. We support their work with regular contributions and we also participate in their biannual volunteering event twice a year.

The third charity we are involved with is a feminist charity, Plataforma Unitaria contra les Violències de Genere. This organisation campaigns to raise awareness of violence against women, whether that’s domestic violence, sexual harassment in the workplace or online intimidation. They do lots of awareness raising work, from consent workshops in schools to exhibitions and concerts and we support their efforts with regular contributions.

So when you sign up to do a TEFL course with us you know that you’ve made the socially responsible choice – a part of your enrolment fee will help to improve peoples’ lives and support charities to work against social, financial and gendered exclusion.
